Hello, I am excited to share with you some travel tips and a guide to Palm Springs, CA. It was an amazing family trip, and we decided to take the drive from San Jose. It took us about 8 hours to get there with about 3 stops. The drive was not bad at all, especially since we drove a Chevrolet Tahoe High Country. It was a smooth, easy to drive, and the kids LOVED that it had screens for movies and shows. They were entertained, and the drive didn’t seem long at all. For us, it’s difficult to travel on planes with little ones, lately since we started to travel again it’s much easier for us to do road trips. We love waking up early picking up coffee and hitting the road. We also invited my mom, and brothers to come with us! We made it a family trip, and my mom absolutely loved it!
Tips for Road Trips
- Pack Light
- Make sure you’re driving a roomy car
- Take lots of snacks and water
- Bring toys/books for kids
- Pack the car the night before so you’re not rushing in the morning
- Write a list of what you need to put in the car the night before (this helps me to not forget anything)
- Have diapers, wipes and extra clothes close by, so your pit stops are quicker
Highlights of the Chevy Tahoe High Country
My husband and I both loved driving the luxurious high country Chevy Tahoe. It’s no wonder it’s the best selling full-size SUV in the U.S for the past 19 years! Our driving experience was great, and we loved how much room there was for both passengers and our luggage. We even had the third row up for my mom and little brother and there was lots of leg space. It was 40% more leg room than the previous generation! As far as the technology we really enjoyed the rear media display. We were able to stream all kinds of movies for our kids. The camera views were great which made for a much safer drive. We were also able to plug in our apple CarPlay and have maps, and music available. I had a few people ask me about the drive and car experience and I am happy to report that we recommend it to any family looking to upgrade their vehicle!
Lodging
As you know, we’re big fans of Airbnb’s especially when the whole family is traveling along. We stayed in a beautiful home in Palm Springs, called the Palm Franklin. The pool and decor were stunning! Activities for the Family
Palm Springs is super hot especially during the summer. I highly recommend renting a home with a pool. Fun Fact: Palm Springs has the most pools per capita then in any other place in the country! The kids had so much fun swimming and eating all day! We also had the opportunity to visit the Desert Zoo, Cabazon Dinosaurs and Joshua Tree. There are lots of fun things to do with the kids, my husband and brothers also went golfing early in the morning one of the days.
