Today we’re talking about hair. I asked all of you what questions you have and I’m answering them all!
It had been about a year since I bleached my hair back in June. Afterwards I can feel how damaged it was, and I vowed to get it healthy again. One of the biggest things that helped was taking prenatal pills. I’m still taking it daily, but any pill with biotin helps with hair growth and strength. That’s the number 1 thing I always recommend if you’re looking to repair damaged hair. Also, you don’t need super expensive products to receive great results. I own a variety of both, and lately I’ve been loving the not-so-expensive shampoo + conditioners. Now let’s get started!
Hair Q&A’s
1. What is your hair color?
I’m not sure what exact color it is but the base is like a caramel and the rest is bleached with a toner. My hairstylist is in San Jose, CA and her name is Cookie (Ig: @CutorDye) she’s been doing my hair for almost 5 years now, and she’s amazing!
2. What’s the best affordable blonde shampoo + conditioner + leave or protector?
Okay, so lately I’ve been loving this shampoo and conditioner by Herbal Essence. In the photo above I had just washed my hair with it. It’s inexpensive and works great! Also if you’re looking for another great shampoo and conditioner anything from Kerastase works great. It’s a little on the pricier side, but totally worth it.
3. How often do you wash your hair?
This might sound pretty weird, but I only wash my hair 2 times a week. This helps your hair to get healthier because of the natural oils. The best thing to do is wash your hair, style it and leave it for a few days. You can touch it up by using dry shampoo, or throw on a hat. Not washing it everyday will make huge difference in how it feels and looks.
4. Have you lost any hair postpartum?
I actually don’t feel like I have, but maybe later on I might? I haven’t stopped taking my prenatal vitamins, so that also has helped.
5. Do you trim your hair often?
Unfortunately, I do not. I don’t know, but I just hate cutting my hair! I’ll trim it maybe once or twice a year, I know that’s really bad! Unless I see lots of heat damage then that’s when I go in and get a tiny trim. And my bangs I cut them myself. Cookie if you’re reading this…sorry lol!
6. How do you take care of bleached hair?
Ok, so when I first bleached my hair this year it was SUPER damaged. So damaged that I lightweight got a little scared, but with care I was able to regain its health. I applied hair masks once a week and lots of vitamin E. Vitamin E is AMAZING, almost miraculous for your hair. Reduce heat, letting your hair air dry after showing will help reduce the heat damage. Also try a leave-in conditioner, this will help with the breakage. If you see lot’s of breakage in your hair then trim it more frequently. Follow these steps, and you’ll get your hair back on track! Below I have some product recommendations.
7. Do you style it everyday, and what tools do you use?
I style it once a week, then do touch ups if needed. Luckily, my hair holds pretty well, and sometimes all i do it straighten the roots and go! As far as tools go I’ve been using these two below for the past 3 years, and they’ve worked great!
