Motherhood: Lactation Cookie Recipe

Motherhood: Lactation Cookie Recipe
Hola! Today, I wanted to share this lactation cookie recipe that I’ve made a few times already, and it works so well! Alessandro will be 4 months in 2 weeks, and I am still breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is difficult, and it takes so much time, patience and care. I still haven’t drank alcohol and am careful about what I eat because everything you intake goes to your baby. Those are his/her nutrients. At the beginning, I felt like my milk supply was low. I felt like I wasn’t feeding him enough and he was latched on about 10-14 times a day! I started researching different methods to help boost your milk supply. I started drinking mother’s milk, then I ordered some fenugreek pills, and of course ate certain foods such as oatmeal to help boost it. After making a batch of these cookies, and eating them before bed I wake up leaking milk! It’s the brewer’s yeast in the cookies that’s the secret.

Ingredients (I buy everything organic):
1 cup butter
4 Tablespoons water
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flax seeds
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups of oats
1 cup chocolate chips or raisins or both
1/2 cup nuts (any kind you’d like)
2 tablespoons brewer’s yeast
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
How To: Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix flaxseeds and water and let it sit for about 5 minutes. In a separate bowl mix the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and eggs. Then add the flax seeds, vanilla, baking soda, and rest of ingredients. Mix it all together well then add little balls to your baking sheet. Place in oven for 12-15 minutes until golden.
