Celebrating Our Anniversary: 5 Stories About Us

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary! My husband and I are celebrating 5 years of marriage and today is also our baby’s due date.
There are no signs of baby yet, but I started doing much more walking and squats so hopefully he will come this weekend. My husband is joining me today in writing this blog post. We have been together for a total of 10 years, and one thing with us is that we are always laughing and joking around. Here are 5 random things about us.

1. We technically met on Myspace.

Claudia: He totally stocked my page. I was actually working at American Eagle (it was my 2nd job at the time) and my co-worker/friend knew Raul. She posted a picture of us on her page, Raul saw it and boom fell in love lol.

Raul: 100% accurate!

2. When I introduced him to my brothers, they didn’t think he knew English.

Claudia: This is funny. I introduced him to my brothers just 2 weeks after we met. I told him let’s go inside my parents house and watch a movie. When we walked inside my 4 brothers were sitting on the couch. My cousin Frankie was there too who is like a brother to me. My first brother Gabe greets him like, “que onda wey.” Raul looks at him smiles and says, “what’s up bro.” haha later that night my brothers told me that they all thought he didn’t know English.

Raul: Little do people know I’m a master at the english language. (<– find the capitalization error lol)

3. The first time I ever asked Claudia to eat and hang out

Raul: I remember one of the first times I hung out with Claudia I asked her if she wanted to go to the movies. She was starving from being in a beauty pageant all day, so she asked me if I could take her to go eat. Like the gentleman that I’m, I said of course! Me thinking she wanted to go somewhere nice she tells me she wants McDonalds, so we went McDonalds. We get to the drive through and I’m ordering for her, in my head I’m like for sure a cheeseburger, nope she orders a Big Mac supersize and a couple of other things! Never had I seen someone eat so much!

Claudia: hahah I was starving okay! I’m not fancy at all I just needed a big Mac in my life at the moment.

4. First time we met…Claudia an emo?

Raul: So our first time ever meeting was a double date. I remember when I met Claudia she was wearing a dark blue hat (the kind generals in the army wear lol) a purple American Eagle hoodie and some blue jeans. I had a feeling this was going south cause she was barely talking at all. We sat down and she was on her phone the whole time. The only time I heard her laugh or say something was when she saw a meme of the Mexican transformer in card board boxes, hella random. I remember thinking to myself this girl does not look like the girl in her pictures what happened!? well turns out she had purple highlights and they were growing out so she was embarrassed her hair was all messed up. She wont admit it but I think she was playing hard to get lol!

Claudia: hahaha wow this is hilarious. It’s all true, but I wasn’t trying to impress anyone. I had just gotten off my first job, which was working as a receptionist in a real estate office, and all I wanted was be in comfy clothes.

5. The day I asked for her hand in marriage

Raul: Since the first day I met Claudia I knew I wanted to marry her. I don’t know how to explain it but when you know you know, It’s like everything feels right. I remember when it came time to ask her dad for her hand in marriage I was so nervous. I didn’t know how to approach him. For those of you that don’t know Claudia’s dad he is one of the coolest, humblest and most hard working people I know, but for some reason it was hard for me to gather up the courage to talk with him. The day finally came and we were sitting just us two in the dining room. I must’ve given a speech of like 10 minutes about why, and what my intentions were and that she is my everything, but I got a long pause. I was starting to sweat from my hands and thinking why is he not saying anything. Finally I got some reaction he scratched his head looked side to side and said, “Are you sure you want to marry Claudia? joking around he said cause she can be a little crazy! hahahaha” I never fully got a yes, but I guess you can say that was kinda like one.

Claudia: Honestly this is the first time I hear this haha …thanks Dad.
