What I’ve Learned During Pregnancy

As my first pregnancy is nearing the end, I wanted to share with you what I’ve learned during these last 9 months.
It’s been a roller coaster ride, and there are so many changes that happen both physically and mentally. Women are so strong, we endure so much and I’m saying this before labor. I’m sure I’ll have a deeper appreciation once I give birth. One important thing I’ve learned is to just appreciate your body. Before becoming pregnant, I would spend at least an hour and a half working out everyday, and would be so conscious of my diet. When pregnancy hit, my body had to endure many changes. The first trimester like many of you know was super difficult. Morning sickness took over and I could not keep any food down meaning my energy levels were low. Once that part was over I entered my second trimester with so much more energy. I definitely thought I would be able to recover and start working out again.  But that quickly changed when my doctor noticed I had a low-lying placenta meaning they restrained me from lifting anything heavier than 10 pounds, along with a list of other things. A low-lying placenta means that the placenta is low, and is covering the cervix.  If it stays that way then you’ll have to go though a c-section. I was so scared, so I decided to take it easy, and just do light walking. Thankfully by the third trimester, my placenta moved up, and I was back on track. Learning how to rest, and trusting your body is so important during pregnancy. I’m a busy bee, and I learned to take a step back and put my body and baby above all. Our bodies are meant to go through this, and all the aches and pains are worth it. I love this baby so much, and each movement is a reminder that what I’m going through has a purpose. That’s the same mentality I hope to have during labor. I’m planning to do a natural birth without any drugs. Mommas if you have any advice please leave your comment below. I’d love to hear your insight, I’ve been doing lots of research about labor, but I have no idea what to expect!
