Mexico Inspired

If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram then you probably know I was in Mexico a couple weeks ago. This bag is from the Bazaar de los Sabados which is a market showcasing some of Mexico’s best handcrafted jewelry, woodwork, ceramics and textiles. Artists and artisans also display their work in Plaza San Jacinto and at the Plaza Tenanitla. This bag was hand-made, and each sequin was sewn to create a unique piece of artwork. I visited many places during my stay, but the Bazaar was by far my favorite. The hard work and time that these artisans invest into their pieces is truly impressive. I feel very blessed to have visited and bring back a little piece of Mexico with me. If you plan on visiting Mexico, here are my top 5 places to visit + top 5 places to eat.
1. Bazaar De Los Sabados + Plaza San Angel
2. Coyoacan + Casa Azul (Frida’s House)
3. Bellas Artes Museum- This is where they house some of Diego Rivera’s most famous paintings.
4. La Basilica
5. Castillo de Chapultepec
Seriously, Mexico City has some of the most amazing food I’ve ever had! The service is also unlike any other country, they truly know the meaning of customer service. Now, it’s easy to just google “best restaurants in Mexico City,” and go to the first one that pops up. The restaurants we visited were recommendations from friends who have lived in the city for many years. Here goes my list:
1. Hunan Restaurant, Chinese Food
I know what you’re probably thinking, “chinese food in Mexico?” But trust me when I say, it was delicious! If you take my recommendation and eat here, please order the Lychee Martinibest cocktail ever.
2. Saks, Traditional Food
If you love moles as much as I do you gotta try the Pollo con Mole Almendrado, it is delicious!
3. Costenito Market, Seafood
One of our friends recommended this place, and I’m not going to lie I was a little hesitant. Every time I’m no where near an ocean, Seafood scares me a little, mostly because I don’t have the strongest stomach. But let me tell you, this place was the bomb dot com. The jamaica tacos, were finger licking good!
4. Ave Maria Restaurant, traditional
This restaurant is located in Coyoacan, and it had great food and the ambiance was nice. My father in law also loved it!
5. Helados y Paletas Gloria, dessert
O-M-G this place was beyond my wildest sweet tooth dreams. They had the most incredible pie de queso ice cream (cheesecake), and the agua de tuna also a must-try!
