Toledo, España

Toledo!

Today we visited Toledo! Such a marvelous little town in Spain full of history and beauty. Toledo used to be the capital of Spain from the Gothic epoch until 1560. It explains the impressive medieval architecture of the city.

Before exploring the town, our class visited this amazing winery for a little tour and some wine tasting! #WineForCredits 🙂

Casa Del Valle

Our tour guide was the most enthusiastic, personable and charming person! We had so much fun walking through the vineyards and learning about the wine industry.

They bottle and package all their wine in house.

Now walking through its streets I felt like I stepped back into the Middle-Ages! We started off our walking tour in the Cathedral.
We went to the Catedral Primada Santa María de Toledo

High gothic architecture
the detail of this church was just stunning! This was finished in 1504!

This is the most important thing kept in the Chapel of the Treasure. The Monstrance of Arfe, also known as La Gran Ostensoria de Toledo. It is made of the best silver and gold, bejeweled with gems, and it measures over ten feet tall.  Famous for being used in the annual feast of Corpus Christi of Toledo,  which had recently passed when we visited the Cathedral.

This town was completely gorgeous! One of my favorites in Spain. Especially being able to begin the day wine tasting! One of the many beauties of Spain and the history that lies within these streets is incredible. Some of the other paintings we saw were also great. We couldn’t photograph many of them, but being able to enjoy the artwork in itself with no distraction was an experience in itself!
